Falcons Fall Short On The Field, But Not In Spirit

Our Christian Brothers Falcons took on the Jesuit Marauders for the 49th annual Holy Bowl matchup this past Saturday. The biggest rivalry game of the year filled Hughes Stadium with more then 12,000 fans. This hard fought game started with high intensity from the kickoff. Jesuit scored the first touchdown in the game with a 75 Yd rushing touchdown from Isaiah Rutherford to bring the score 7-0. The Falcons responded by recovering a fumble by Jesuit. Gunnor Faulk ’18 then completed a 31 Yd pass to Tyler Green ’19 for CB’s first touchdown of the game. Jesuit immediately answered the call, as Josh Farr threw  an 68 yd pass to Evan Panson to complete the touchdown to make it 14-7 Jesuit. With three minutes left in the quarter, Jesuit was able to extend their lead by scoring a safety and Jason Gallagher 40 yard touchdown to end the first quarter 23-7.

With two minutes left in the second quarter, Faulk threw a 25 yard pass to Spencer Webb ’18 for a touchdown to make it 23-14. Jesuit’s Demario Keyes scored a 99 yard kick return for a touchdown on the ensuing kickoff to make it 29-14. At the start of the third quarter, Jesuit running back Lorenzo Burkes ’18 scored a 42 yd touchdown to further extend jesuits lead 36-14. The Falcons weren’t able to respond in the fourth quarter as the Mauraders defeated CB 43-14, in the 49th annual Holy Bowl after a hard battle on the gridiron. The boys hope to redeem themselves as they take on opponents McClatchy next Saturday Saturday 16th at 11 AM at Hughes Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on KBFT Sports.
