Christian Service

Enter to Learn Leave to Serve

Our goal to live out De La Salle’s teachings through outreach to the poor and vulnerable, the neglected, and the overlooked are exemplified in Christian Service. Christian Service strives to implement our schools motto, “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve” on a day to day basis.

Faith in action and service to God are experienced by serving others through Christian Service. Through the opportunity to serve others, students discover their own purpose in life. Some of the defining characteristics of a Christian Brothers’ education are becoming intellectually competent while using one’s gifts and talents to serve others and build up the Kingdom of God.

The United States Bishops state: “More than any other programs of education sponsored by the Church, the Catholic school has the opportunity and obligation to be unique, contemporary and oriented to Christian Service… oriented to Christian Service because it helps students acquire skills, virtues and habits of heart and mind required for effective service to others.” (To Teach as Jesus Did - #106)

There are four components to Christian Service: Almsgiving, Christian Service-Learning, Outreach, and VENAVER.
