Employment Positions:

Educational Technology Specialist
(Technology Facilitator)

The Educational Technology Specialist will:

• Take a leadership role in promoting and demonstrating the use of new technologies and media with teachers and other adults
• Collaborate and assist teachers with the use of instructional technology in the curriculum including co-planning, model lessons that use technology, support teachers in the use of technology, and plan training sessions for administrators, teachers, and students
• Integrate technology proficiency standards with curriculum content (ISTE standards for students, teachers and administration & AASL standards for the 21st century learner)
• Work with teachers to support their efforts to achieve technology competency and to integrate technology into the curriculum
• Design, manage and evaluate resources and techniques for education
• Work with the IT staff, the IT administrative assistant and the principal for curriculum and instruction to address teacher technology challenges and work toward the implementation of the school-wide technology plan
• Foster an appreciation for and understanding of how technology can impact learning among the school community
• Keep the library running, functional and able to meet the needs of our students and teachers by maintaining a systematically developed collection of print and digital media
• Manage and supervise the library in a manner that encourages access for students and faculty alike
• Offer assistance to teachers in the selection and purchase of instructional materials, and in the use of those resources
• Encourage students to read for pleasure and motivate their reading through a variety of methods
• Provide instruction in the use of technology to access information outside the library
• Teach information skills as an integral part of the content and objectives of the school’s curriculum
• Play a role in the schools budgetary process to ensure funding for the instructional technology program and our information resources
• Lead the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the instructional technology program
• Maintain a schedule for the use of the Library and Tech Center
• Serve as a school contact for solving hardware and software problems in conjunction with the IT staff and IT help desk administrative assistant

A qualified applicant will have:
• A masters in educational technology or equivalent (an educational technology certificate and a masters in another area may be considered)
• 5 years teaching experience in Junior high or High School
• Knowledge of the schools curriculum as well as national standards for information technology and technology in teaching (ISTEs)
• Organizational skills to manage a diverse workload and complete tasks efficiently
• The ability to effectively conduct technology training for administrators,  teachers, and students utilizing effective teaching methods and efficient communication
• The ability to determine the needs of students and teachers and means of incorporating interactive technology to improve and enhance student learning experiences
• A broad knowledge of technology and a wide range of strategies that improve student learning
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• The ability to work with minimal supervision
• Proficiency in the use of Word, Google Applications, Wikis, Voicethread, Turnitin, Edumodo and other applicable web 2.0 tools
• A willingness to be a life-long learner and to stay current in emerging technology and software
• Familiarity with the operation and hook up of an LCD projector, document camera, SMART board and other relevant technological   hardware
• A positive working rapport with the faculty, administration, and students

Social Studies Instructor

Part-Time, Begins August, 2012

Instructional Assignment:
The primary instruction duties will be in the areas of Advanced Placement Government and College Preparatory United States History.  The faculty member will work closely with other members of the Social Studies Department to develop and enhance curriculum and program offerings.  The teaching assignment will eventually include the use of one-to-one technology devices in the classroom. 

General Instructional Responsibilities
The faculty member will be responsible for:  1) teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the Assistant Principal; 2) providing a nurturing yet structured and academically rigorous classroom environment; 3) helping students fulfill their maximum potential in learning course content and developing critical thinking skills; 4) maintaining an up-to-date knowledge in his/her regular teaching field; 5) maintaining standards of professional conduct appropriate to the teaching field; 6) assisting in curriculum development; 7) serving on committees and participating in student co-curricular activities; and 8) fulfilling and assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the principal of Christian Brothers High School. 

Requirements
Have a bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences or History and either possess a valid California Teaching credential or be enrolled in an accredited teaching credential program; or have a bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences or History and possess a master’s degree in one of the main areas to be taught in the Social Sciences and have prior teaching experience.
