The Men’s and Women’s XC teams had an outstanding first meet on Saturday to set the pace for the season. Our teams took the trip to Lagoon Valley in Vacaville to conquer the course and hill “Big momma”.
Men’s Varsity team was pushed to the finish by Alberto Mujica (‘19), who hit a PR time of 11:31:16. He was followed by Nevin Afong (‘19), Patrick Wiseman (‘18), Samuel Copley (‘19) and Isaiah Jimenez (‘19) . This strong group of men finished first in the overall team competition. The two mile course was rigorous and hard on our boys, but it didn’t stop them from pushing themselves to finish first.
Congrats to our Women’s Varsity team for placing third. With a hardworking team effort, the women were able to have a cohesive 1-2-3 scoring medalist Amelia Poroli (‘18), Isabel Afong (‘18), and Emma Roberts (‘18). Katherine Kasbergen (‘19) and Riley Vigil (‘20) supported the team with fourth and fifth place finishes. Great work from Emma in her first race as a senior, finishing of the two mile race with the time of 14:59:8. Amelia finished with her best time for the course being the first to cross the line for the Falcons. She ended the race with a time of 14:59.
Womens Frosh/Soph team fought hard and rallied to the end. Paige Sparks (‘21) ran the fourth fastest race for all our women’s teams this weekend, with sophomore Lindsey Cooper (’20) not far behind.
The next meet is this Saturday at the San Francisco Invitational.
