Highlights for the week of Sept. 8th – Sept. 14th
Cross Country: Last Saturday CBXC ran the Lagoon Valley Classic at lagoon Valley in Vacaville. Due to a
heatwave, the distances for the older runners was cut back to 2.1 miles. After the literal and proverbial dust settled,
CBXC had a fantastic day of racing. The varsity Men’s Team won the small school division and finished 5 th overall
among all participating schools while the varsity Women’s team finished 3 rd in the small school division. The 9 t
grade boys’ team finished 5 th overall, while the 9 th /10 th girls finished 13 th . Outstanding performances included Senior,
Mary Enos ’18 (This week’s Wonder Woman!), Junior, Alberto Mujica ’19, 9 th grader Paige Sparks ’21 and 9th Grader, Rafael
Lobo ’21. Next up, San Francisco Invitational at Golden Gate Park, Saturday 9/9.
Varsity Football: The Varsity football team had a disappointing loss in the 49 th Holy Bowl. Spencer Webb ’18 led the
team with 4 catches for 70 yards and Jake Regino ’18 led the defense with 12 tackles. The team looks to bounce back
against McClatchy this Saturday for an 11:00am kickoff at Hughes Stadium. Overall record: 0 – 2.
JV Football: The JV football team had a rough outing against a strong Jesuit team. Although we played hard,
unfortunately we came up short. After a good week of practice, we look forward to turning it around this Saturday!!
Freshman Football: The freshman football team tied Davis 13-13 on Thursday. Jacob Stewart ’21 rushed for one
touchdown threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Bryan Garrett ’21. The defense, led by Justin Douglas ’21 made key stops to
preserve the tie. George Rios ’21 & Jared Hunter’21 made big interceptions. Overall Record: 1 – 1 – 1.
Women’s Varsity Volleyball: This week the Varsity Women’s volleyball team took on a couple of the best
teams in the area. To open the week they lost a tough 5 set match to Lincoln of Stockton. On Thursday they traveled
to Whitney of Rocklin, the defending Division 2 section champs and swept them in 3 sets. Each week there is more
improvement and these ladies are starting to resemble a team that can compete for another banner.
JV Volleyball: We had a tough week this week, we are still working on closing at the end of our matches. We lost
to Lincoln of Stockton 25-23, 23-25, 13-15. We set up against Whitney and our goal for next week is to work on our
mental game to prepare for the start of the league.
Freshman Volleyball: The girls took their first win on Monday from Lincoln High School (Stockton). Bella
Barbosa went on a service streak of 11-0. Final Scores: 25-6, 25-17.
Thursday night the girls lost in two games to Whitney High School. The game was close thanks to Libero Alana
Abad who only had 2 passing errors the entire match! Final Scores: 25-19, 25-18.
Women’s Tennis: Wednesday, September 13 the girls finished the preseason with a victory over the McClatchy’s
JV team (7-3). CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
The season is looking promising with such high levels of dedication and camaraderie. The immense support and
communication from our tennis parents, we the coaching staff (Sean, Gilbert, Ken Mar) see nothing but upwards
trajectory. If you can’t wait to hear more come see it for YOURSELF!!! Tuesday, September 19 our first league
match vs Casa Roble at HOME (Laguna Creek Racquet Club) start time 3:30 pm, BE THERE. Still haven’t had

Men’s Water Polo: Last weekend the boys played in the Sierra Shootout water polo tournament and started off
losing close game against Bishop O’Dowd 12 – 11. They followed up with consecutive wins over Ripon (9 – 6),
Northgate (9 – 7), Benicia (11 – 10) and Sonora (5 – 4) to finish the tournament at 4 – 1. On Tuesday, they played
Rio Linda and won 4 – 3. Overall record: 6 – 5. They are back in tournament play this weekend.
Women’s Water Polo: Varsity is competing this weekend in the Sierra Shootout at Sierra College. Varsity beat
Rio Linda earlier in the week, Isabella Latino’19 and Alyce Munoz’19 had two goals each.
JV Women’s Water Polo: The JV women’s water polo team beat Rio Linda last week by a score of 16 – 4.
They improved their overall record to 6 – 1.
Women’s Golf: On Wednesday at Bing Maloney, the Falcons were clipped by the Vista Del Lago Eagles in
Women’s golf. Vista scored a 197 and CB scored a 223. The Falcons will have three chances to exact revenge up
coming and the team is up to the challenge. Courtney Krause’18 shot 36 while Carley Krause ’20 had her best match at 43.
Vista’s Savannah Wyrick fired a 34 for the Eagles.
The Falcons did battle with a pair of Eagles this week, coming out 1-1. CBHS defeated ECHS 240-254, to bounce
back from the match versus Vista earlier in the week. The team looks to battle back and get to full strength this
upcoming week. The Falcons will take on the Casa Roble Rams and the Mira Loma Matadors before entering their
first 18-hole League Match on Monday the 25 th at Teal Bend. As the team focuses on getting better they look to
storm into the second half of league play rearing to go!
