Coaches Box 9/15 – 9/21

Highlights for the week of Sept. 15th – Sept. 21th.

Cross Country:  CBXC had another outstanding performance at the Josh Ruff Invitational in Folsom.  The men’s team was able to salvage a 6th place finish in a stacked race after losing Pat Wiseman 150 meters into the 5K race.  Pat was near the lead pack when suddenly he disappeared from the race.  Having tripped, Pat was able to run from dead last to a respectable 47th out of the 299 runners.  Led by Isabel Afong and Junior Aileen Fortin along with fellow seniors Amelia Poroli and Emma Roberts, the Women’s team also had a very good day of racing as they finished 12th overall.  Senior Mary Enos was able to earn a medal in the JV Women’s race. Next up…Tiger Invitational at Elkhorn Golf Course in Stockton.

Varsity Football: The Varsity Football team defeated McClatchy by a score of 42-0. The Falcons were led on offense by Junior Tyler Green who finished the day with 4 catches for 100 yards and 2 Touchdowns. On Defense, the Falcons were led by Senior Daniel Simoes who recorded 7 tackles and a sack. The team looks to improve its record to 2-2 this Friday at Winters High School.  Overall record: 1 – 2

JV FootballThe JV football team came away with their first win of the season, beating McClatchy by a score of 33 – 14.  Overall record:  1 – 2.

Freshman FootballJacob Stewart rushed for a 3 yard TD & through a 53 yard TD pass to Bryan Garrett to lead the freshman Falcons to an exciting 14-12 victory.  The Falcon defense played extremely well intercepting 4 passes & recording 4 QB sacks.

Overall Record:  2 – 1 – 1.

Women’s Varsity Volleyball:  No games this week.  Serve it Up this weekend in Napa.

JV Volleyball: No games this week.

Freshman VolleyballNo games this week.

Women’s Tennis: Our opening league match vs Casa Roble was a success, resulting in (8-1).  The girls hit courts hard, quite literally, freshman, Ai-Linh Tran, our number 4 singles was forced into retire after taking a huge fall during her first set. Freshman, Mariana Garcia number 12 on the ladder stepped in for Ai-Linh performing beautifully give number 4 a run for her money, WAY TO GO MARIANA!!!!

Our second match vs Vista Del Lago was a tough loss for our girls (0-9), but left the courts with their head high.  Freshman, Ai-Linh went the distance taking her opponent to the third set tie-breaker, playing 2 hours and 45 minutes, WAY TO GO LIN!!! Her finally scores were (7-5) (6-7) (6-10).  We can’t wait to see then in the second half of our season.  If you want to see more tennis come support our team Tuesday, September 26, vs Mira Loma at Del Norte Racquet Club. And if that wasn’t enough we have another match at home (Laguna Creek Racquet Club) Thursday, September 28 vs Rio Americano. See you THERE!!! Lets GO FALCONS!!!

Men’s Varsity Water Polo:   Finished 5th at the CCC Invitational last weekend, losing to Washington 0-10, defeating Alhambra 14-5, defeating Amador 8-5, and defeating Sonora 11-8.  Defeated Oakmont 11-2 On Tuesday.  Defeated Bear River 14-3 on Thursday.  Overall Record: 11-6

Men’s JV Water Polo:  Defeated Oakmont 14-1 on Tuesday.  Won Thursday’s league game against Bear River HS by forfeit.  Overall Record: 3-3

Women’s Water PoloVarsity Women’s Water Polo beat Bear River 13-8 to open League Play. Leading scorers were Julia Dudensing and Sierra Martin.

JV Women’s Water Polo:  JV Women beat Bear River 17-7 to open league play. Mierra Haroldson had six goals. The JV Women play this weekend at Granite Bay High School in tournament play. First game is Saturday 09/23 at 9:00am against Del Oro.

Women’s Golf: CB is back to their winning ways beating Casa Roble and Mira Loma running their record to 5-1 in league play.  The team will enter its first of many 18 tournaments on Monday 25th at Teal Bend Golf Course.  The Falcons are ready to roll!

Also, this week the team will enjoy a team builder outing at Monster Golf on Friday, a good time for players and coaches alike.  Special shout out to Courtney Krause the team Captain for her leadership and dedication to a strong team on and off the course.  Real leadership is a Lasallian quality to be proud of.  Courtney is assisted by Cianna Hamilton, our other playing senior as her trusted Lieutenant.  Way to go all around!
