Highlights for the week of Sept. 29th – Oct. 5th.

Cross Country:  Haggin Oaks Golf Course – It was a beautiful day at Sacramento’s Haggin Oaks GC for the 3 Annual Capital Classic.  Some of Northern California’s premier teams, Jesuit, CB, Placer, Vista, St. Francis and Campolindo as well as teams from Nevada compete together regardless of school size.  When the day was done, CBXC runners had a host of PRs, a lot of extremely successful races and a few surprises.  In the Men’s seeded race, CB’s Men’s team was up against two of Nevada’s best teams as well as the aforementioned Placer, Jesuit, Vista, Rio Americano and Campolindo. Patrick Wiseman led the team followed by Nevin Afong, Isaiah Jimenez, Berto Mujica, Sam Copley, Enrique Verschoor and Nico Sanchez finished a respectable 13th over among the 34 teams.  Not to be outdone, CB’s Women’s team, in the unseeded race finished 16th among the 36 teams with the team of Ameila Poroli, Aileen Fortin, Julia Padilla, Emma Roberts and Kathryn Kasbergen.

Among the younger runners, newcomers Malia Gay, Rain Cheng and Paige Sparks teamed up with Riley Vigil and Lindsey Cooper to lead the F/S girls to a 5th place finish in their race.  F/S boys also had a remarkable day behind excellent races by 9th graders Jack Stokes and Jacob Schnetz, who two day prior had sprained his elbow during a fall at practice. Along with Sophs Hunter Rojo and Luke Powers and fellow 9th graders Rafael Lobo, Ryan Price and Mark Duncan the boys were able to secure a ninth-place finish among the 19 teams.

Next up, CAL League Meet at Willow Hills, Folsom and The Clovis Invitational in Fresno, California.

Thursday, we matched up with Rio Americano at home and our team put everything we have been working for and delivered it for an unbelievable win.
