Highlights for the week of Sept. Oct 6th – Oct. 12th.
Cross Country: Today was an excellent day of racing in Fresno, California at the Clovis Invitational. Due to the SAT and a few other bumps we had to enlist the help of four Rookies to help solidify our Women’s varsity team. And they did not disappoint! With excellent racing by Amelia and 2 HUGE PRs from Aileen and Julia, our rookie girls posted times good enough to land them among the best 35 times in CB history. Absolute newbie, Malia, 9th graders Paige and Rain and 10th grader Lindsey took on the unknown of Woodward Park 5K and killed it! Here’s the kicker…each of the 4-thought today’s 5K was easier than their usual 2.1 mi. AHHHH…the future!
For the men’s varsity, they took the lead spot of all time by dropping their team score by more than two minutes to finish fourth overall in today’s medium school race at today’s Clovis Invitational. For the first time in CB XC history, these two, Nevin and Isaiah grabbed medals by finishing top 20 in the race. What a difference a year makes!
Varsity Football: The Varsity Football team won its opening Capital Athletic League game 56-6 over Mira Loma last week. The Falcons were led on offense by Junior Freddie Fiske who had 3 receptions for 57 yards. On Defense, Brothers was led by Senior Mitch Berger who finished the night with 7 total tackles, 4 for loss. The team looks to improve their record to 5-2 when they take on Rio Americano tonight at 7:15pm (at Del Campo High School).

Unfortunately, on Tuesday they traveled to El Camino and suffered a tough loss in 4. Brothers rebounded from that loss and beat Casa Roble in straight sets. They are now in a 3-way tie with Rio Americano and El Camino at 5-1.

In came the youngest Falcons with very good scores to pull out the win by 8. CB has faced three tough tests in a row, but their best is still out there in front of them.
CB closed out the final week with a win over Casa Roble. Thursday was senior night and CB honored six seniors. Development Team Players: Ashley Kim, Elizabeth Sparring, Morgan Jones and Shatara Moulton. These young ladies learned a lot about golf and were involved with CB Golf for many seasons. A big THANK YOU to Coach Debbie Henning for heading up the development team. Debbie is very talented. She came up with creative and fun ways to teach golf to the development team, Coach Debbie has the real spirit of a coach and our player benefited from her work.
Courtney Krause and Cianna Hamilton were honored as four year playing team members. Each has played in almost every match and post season event for all four years, a lot of golf and a lot of experience. Courtney was an exemplary team Captain and lead the team in scoring. Her conscientious effort and team building as well as being one of the top players in the league makes her one of CB top overall players ever. Cianna was our team Lieutenant, her quiet but respected influence and support of Courtney is noteworthy. Cianna had her best season and could be a big part of our post season run.
What great parent support the golf team has from everyone in our golf family. Golf is taxing on time and carpooling; our parents are the best! Kathrine Paterson and Annie Krause were the best team moms and made my life a whole lot easier. Thank you, thank you thank, you!
CB is ready for League #2 championship on Monday @ Haggin Oaks. Don’t sleep on these Falcons we could be back in the Section conversation and a ready for a run into the post season.
Falcons are out hunting birdies…Look out!
