Highlights for the week of Sept. Oct 13th – Oct. 19th.
Women’s Golf: In the closest CAL league season in years, with Vista del Lago, Christian Brothers, Rio Americano, and El Camino battled through the final hole at Arcade Creek yesterday to determine the final standings. Vista and CB move on to sections at the Tracy Country Club next Monday. The Falcons edged out the Rio Raiders by one league point, proving all matches, all scores, and a total team effort was needed for the Falcons to move on. Two seniors, two sophomores, and two freshmen improved their last league match score by 33 strokes to post enough of a margin to play on.
Three teammates made All-league, Courtney Krause, Carly Krause and Cianna Hamilton.
Many good teams will compete in Tracy next week, some may be overlooking Christian Brothers. But, this team knows when the peg goes in the ground everyone starts even and these ladies are ready for the challenge, the Falcons are on the move!
Cross Country: Last Saturday, the cross-country team hosted their annual PAL middle school meet. It was an amazing day with over 700 runners participating. Many thanks to Coach Delgado and his staff for an awesome experience. Many CB runners and parents also helped. The Varsity boys travel down to the compete in the Mt. SAC relays this weekend.
Varsity Football: The Varsity football team defeated Rio Americano by a score of 51-22 last Friday night. The Falcons were led on offense by Senior Spencer Webb who finished with 5 receptions for 115 yards and 3 touchdowns. On Defense, Brothers was led by Senior linebacker Jack O’Hearn who finished the night with 12 tackles, 2 for loss and 1 sack. CB takes on El Camino this Friday night for homecoming and looks to improve their record to 6-2.
Overall record: 5 – 2, League record: 2 – 0.
JV Football: Our JV Football team looked to capture its 5th victory in a row and had a league game against undefeated Rio Americano. Our Falcons overcame sloppy play and came out on top 25-14. Luke Jones passed for, ran for and caught a touchdown. Freshman Justin Douglas continues to impress on both sides of the ball with a rushing touchdown. Angelo Butler continues to be a ball hawk at safety and picked off another pass and also caught a touchdown. Our Falcons look to remain hot in hosting El Camino for Homecoming this week.

Overall Record: 3 – 2 – 1.
Women’s Varsity Volleyball: Women’s Varsity Volleyball came into the week needing two wins to stay in contention for a league title. On Tuesday they traveled to Folsom to take on Vista Del Lago. After a slow start Christian Brothers came out with a victory in 4 sets. On Thursday Christian Brothers had a home contest vs. Mira Loma and swept them in straight sets.
Next week Christian Brothers takes on Rio Americano who is also 7-1 in league and El Camino who is 6-2 in league. Please come out and support our seniors on Thursday for Senior Night.
Overall: 16-14, League: 7-1
JV Volleyball: JV Volleyball met with Vista at their home, our team made adjustments with a starter missing and came into the game with a plan to execute. Unfortunately, within 10 points of the game, we received an injury and took another starter out Sam Liango. We adjusted and our team stepped up and came together as one and took the set 31-29. We than had another exciting match and lost 25-23. Our Falcon ladies battled but unfortunately lost the last set 7-15.
We are regrouping and preparing for our final week against Rio and El Camino. We suffered some injuries but as a team are going to step up and deliver all we have learned throughout our season.
So proud of our JV Volleyball Lady Falcons!
Freshman Volleyball: Our ladies faced Vista Del Lago on Tuesday, the only team to have taken a set from us so far this league season. Our team fought long and hard with back and forth rallies to finally defeat Vista in 2 sets. Thursday, they took another win defeating Mira Loma in 2 sets as well.
Overall Season 10-8, Overall League 8-0
Women’s Tennis: The last matches of the season could not have been played any better by our lady falcons. Even though the rematch vs Rio Americano ended in a 0-9 loss, our girls constantly battled taking each game to the deciding no add scoring deuce. Senior, Bailey Leek our represented our team as the number 6 singles taking her opponent to a tie-breaker in the first set (6-7), but ended up losing (5-7). Way to go BAILEY!!!! Many of the girls took the loss hard, but they represented Christian Brothers with class.
Our final match of our season vs El Camino was a clean sweep 9-0. Each singles player (Fiona Babcock, Kennedy Gudmann, Karly Kiefer, Bianca Cabanag, Ai-linh Tran, and Sydney Obmann) finished in two sets. Our doubles teams (Bailey Leek and Natalia Kimmelshue, Lola Jan and Emma Emigh, Lily Witry and Mariana Garcia) also won in 2 sets giving our exhibitions teams the opportunity to do the same. Each exhibition player (Isabella Warford, Isabela Ledesma, Alora Gardiner, Gabriella Geach, Marissa Galvez, Helena Geach, and Marlayna Granucci) exhibited how much they have learned these past few months, well done!
As we say farewell and good luck to our seniors (Karly Kiefer and Bailey Leek), the tennis team has grown exponentially with many new upcoming and talented players. Next year, we look forward to a highly competitive season with returning and new recruits. Do not let our league record (4-6) fool you because we are a force to be reckoned with. Our determination and team spirit has never been higher!
Our singles playoff is Tuesday, October 24 and our doubles playoff is Thursday, October 26 at Natomas Racquet Club starts at 10:00 am.
