The XC team headed down to Frogtown for the Sub-section meet this past weekend. 65 runners entered, and with a California winter weather, the teams were ready. Both teams and individuals entered the meet and CBXC was ready to show what they have. 42 runners were able to advance to Section Finals next week in Folsom. In all seven races, every individual runner rose to the occasion, qualifying all seven teams for the Section meet. This was by far the best meet of the season, as those who aren’t even Qualifying ran their best and proved to the competitors what CB can do.
The top story of the race was newcomer Malia Gay ’21, who within the first half mile of the race, took home a sub-section championship. She is the first Section champ since Kelly McEnerney in 2005.
This coming Saturday, the Frosh Boys, Frosh/Soph Girls and Varsity Men’s teams will be racing for Section Championships as well. These runners have put in necessary work to earn the Section Banner and move on to State — XC fan or not, this is the meet to watch. Come watch history be made by our fellow men and women. Willow Hills in Folsom is known for its rolling hills course and long loop around the lake behind Folsom High School. This is the course they will be able to dominate, as our men race for a third straight section title. Come on out bright and early and show your CB pride and support CB XC at Section Champs at Folsom High School on Friday. Varsity men gun fires of at 10:30 am. #goingfor3
