Lady Falcons Quest For Threepeat Falls Short

By Nick Smith

After strong victories over both Benicia and Vanden with scores of 3-0 and 3-1 respectively, our 3rd seeded CB Varsity Volleyball team arrived in the Ron Limeberger ’53 Gymnasium to take on the 10th seed El Dorado this past Tuesday. The El Dorado Cougars were not to be underestimated, however, as they recently took down the second seed in the section, Woodland. Our Lady Falcons struggled early against the Cougars, falling down two sets to one. Our girls fought valiantly, as all of their losing sets were within of four points, but ultimately, they could not counter El Dorado’s strong offense, losing the match with a score of 3-1. Though their Division III Sac-Joaquin Section Journey has ended, the Lady Falcons will continue to play in the CIF D-III Northern California Tournament, beginning next week. As the 12th seed, our girls will be facing off against the fifth seed, the Marin Academy Wildcats. The girls will be travelling to Marin on Wednesday the 15th to compete. The best of luck to our girls in the tournament.
