Monet brown chipped in 11 points.

JV Girls Basketball:

The JV women opened the season at the Edison tournament in Stockton. The team took on three tough opponents – the sophomores and freshmen from the Sheldon varsity team, Del Oro and Edison JV teams. The Lady Falcons, six players deep, battled all weekend and eventually ran out of gas. They went o and 3 on the weekend and learned a lot about who they are, where they are and where they are headed this season. The next stop in their journey is Shingle Springs and the Battle in the Foothills tournament hosted by Ponderosa High School. And they can’t wait to get there. Also, the JV Women’s team welcomes CBS 2008 alum, Brittany Woodard, as assistant coach. Go Falcons!

Freshman Girls Basketball

Freshman lady Falcons lost to St. Francis on Friday night in a hard fought game, but came back on Saturday ready to fight hard on the court. Matching up against a tall Folsom team, the lady Falcons got the best of them, winning by ten to take 3rd place in the Kennedy freshman tournament.

Varsity Boys Basketball

Tuesday December 5 at Del Oro: Brothers Varsity earned a big road win over previously Sac Bee Ranked #13 Del Oro 67-53 behind tough, gritty defense and excellent shooting. Senior Will Warner contained Del Oro’s best player all night and Senior Jacob Tucker and Junior Brandon Wiggin, both under 6 feet tall, dominated the paint against Del Oro’s big men. Senior Everett Perrot had 25 points and 10 rebounds and Senior Andre Albason had 22 points and put the game away shooting 8/8 on free throws in the 4th quarter. Senior Matt Schneider led the team with 5 assists and Junior Anthony Zavala had 6 points and 2 assists coming off the bench.

JV Boys Basketball:

The JV boys continued their tough play in the Jesuit tournament with a gritty second round win over St Mary’s 66-60. We then played our rival Jesuit in the Championship game.  Our boys came out strong but a rough second quarter was too much to overcome despite winning the second half battle.  The final score was 53-63 with All Tourney Honors going to Shane Zapata and Angelo Butler.  The JV Falcons took the court again on Tuesday up in Loomis vs. Del Oro.  The Golden Eagles started fast and never looked back.  The Jesuit tournament hangover was in full effect as the Eagles won big 85-50.  The boys were in good spirits and had a great practice Wednesday and look to build on that and get better every day.  We will be in action again next Tuesday for our home

opener vs. Monterey Trail!  See you there!!

Freshman Boys Basketball:

The Freshman Boys earned their first win of the season last week, a 59-50 win over Center High School on Dec. 1.  The boys followed their first win with a comprehensive 67-50 win over Oak Ridge to claim the consolation title in the Claude Brock Classic.  On Tuesday, Dec. 5, the freshman traveled to Del Oro to take on the Golden Eagles, despite a late run and a chance at a last second game winner, the Falcons fell 46-45 to bring their record to 2-3 to start the season.  The boys will hit the hardwood again next week with their first home game of the season, followed by the always tough Rocklin Tournament.

Varsity Girls Soccer:

This past weekend The Lady Falcons played in the Sierra High School tournament. The first game was against Davis of Modesto. The Lady Falcons put on a clinic with a final score of 7-1 with Ashley Valerio leading the Charge with 3 goals. Dior Dupavillon followed with 2, Emma Thompson and Caeley Kelly had 1 each. In the second match Central Catholic defeated our Lady Falcons 2-1 with the lone goal coming from Emma Thompson. On Saturday the final game was against Gregorio and it was tie 0-0 at the end of regulation.  Gregorio would win in the PK Shootout.  Tuesday, we hosted Pleasant Grove in the first night game of the season. Unfortunately, Pleasant Grove would pull out the win in the last 5 minutes of the game. Final score 2-1 with Dior Dupavillon scoring for CB. Thursday was the rivalry match against St. Francis. If you weren’t there then you missed a great match! The game ended to a 0-0 tie. At the pregame meeting Coach Rudy Ruvalcaba told his team, “If you are working hard, then you are having fun! If you are not having fun then you are not working hard!” This seemed to resonate with the team because everyone put their best effort into this match! Next up, we travel to Capital Christian.

JV Girls Soccer:

Sierra high school tournament, our woman’s JV had a great showing this past weekend taking first place at the 8th annual Sierra high school tournament! Christian Brothers went on to win their first game versus Davis 8-0, Sierra 7-0, Linden 9-0 and beating Gregory 6-0 in the final.

Christian Brothers JV women couldn’t find the net this week falling 4-2 to Pleasant Grove and on Tuesday to rival St. Francis 4-0.

Varsity Boys Soccer:

On Dec. 5th, 2017 the Christian Brothers men’s varsity soccer team took on the Eagles of Pleasant Grove. The Falcon’s first official away game of the season took place at Cosumnes River College’s revamped stadium, in front of a decent sized crowd, optimistic after the strong start to the season. The two teams played to a stalemate in the first half, with both sides making adjustments after the break. The Falcons took the lead early in the second half through sophomore Hunter Dierlam, but the Eagles rallied back to equalize late. Unfortunately, the Falcons were not able to hold on for the draw, as Pleasant Grove scored again late into time added on to steal a victory, and down the Falcons by a hard-fought final score of 2-1.

On Dec. 7th, 2017 the Christian Brothers men’s varsity soccer team hosted the Capital Christian Cougars at Hughes Stadium. After a hard-fought loss in the last game, the Falcons were looking to bounce back, and rekindle the winning feeling. Christian Brothers got the scoring started early, with junior JT Waldon and senior Zach Lau both finding the back of the net within the first 15 minutes. The first half scoring was rounded off by sophomore Colin Quinn, as the Falcons took a 3-0 lead into the break. The scoring wasn’t over however, as the Falcons looked to pick up where the left off in the first half. Senior Alex Silva displayed a fine finishing touch, after latching on to some good dribbling work by sophomore Hunter Dierlam, before sophomore Colin Quinn grabbed his second goal of the game. Even with the game seemingly out of reach, the Cougars continued to battle and were able to pull one back after some nice play down the sideline. However, that elicited an immediate response from the Falcons, as junior Andrew Constancio restored the 5-goal lead for Christian Brothers. There was no quit in Capital Christian, and to their credit they were able to pull one more goal back through a long strike resulting from some scrappy play. However, Christian Brothers would prevail on the night 6-2, pushing the men’s varsity home record to 2-0.

JV Boys Soccer:

The JV soccer boys played last weekend at the Inderkum Tournament in which they won the first game by beating Rio Linda HS 2-0 on Friday afternoon. Saturday wasn’t our best day of season as our boys lost a tough game against Granite Bay 2-0. It was a evenly played game in which we couldn’t capitalized on our many opportunities to score but unfortunately two defensive breakdown cost us the game. The third and final game was played against the host school Inderkum HS which ended with a 1-1 tied. Overall it was a good tournament for our boys. Nick Hanna led the team in scoring with 2 goals in the tournament.

On Tuesday night we went on the road to play a tough Pleasant Grove HS team. Our boys played great, possessing and moving the ball throughout the pitch. The boys created many scoring opportunities goals but luck wasn’t on our side that night; therefore, losing the game 2-0.

The JV boys finished the week at home with a convincing 13-0 victory over Capital Christian HS. After a tough 3- game stretch the boys came out hungry for goals as they capitalized on many of the scoring opportunities. Will Rolleri led the team in scoring with a hat trick follow by Everrett McAvoy-Jensen with 2.
