On Jan. 9, 2017, the Christian Brothers men’s varsity soccer team opened league play away from home against the Eagles of El Camino High School. A gritty performance, along with a hat trick from senior forward Alex Silva saw the Falcon’s come away with a well-deserved 3-2 victory on the road. On Jan. 11th, the Falcons took the field against Casa Robles High School for their second game, and first home outing of the new league season. A tightly contested first 40 minutes saw the Rams of Casa Robles take a 1-0 lead into the half time break. However the Falcons came out in the second half in inspired form. Goals from junior JT Waldon and senior Jared Enos, as well as a penalty from Alex Silva lead the Falcons to a 3-1 victory on the night, and a perfect 2-0 in league play thus far. The Falcons next take the field away to Vista Del Lago on Jan. 16th in a continuation of league play.

JV Boys Soccer:

Our JV boys’ soccer team started league play on the road last Tuesday against El Camino HS. The boys came out strong of the gate, creating many scoring opportunities by being aggressive and displaying great ball movement, which created a 3-1 lead at halftime. The second half was a different story with critical mistakes made by our backline and very questionable calls by the officiating crew made it a nail biter. Despite that the boys pulled a great victory winning 4-3. Goals scored by Andres Gordon, Richard Dore, Antonio Jacobo and Desmond Greer.

Last night at SCC our boys took on Casa Roble HS. The first half was a very hard-fought game. Both teams created multiple scoring opportunities which turned into a 2-1 lead for our boys. After a very competitive first half, our boys dominated the 2nd half, the team displayed great team play by possessing the ball most of the 2nd half. The boys finished the night with a very convincing victory with a score of 6-1. Declan Simonovich was the player of the game finishing with a hat trick and scoring the best goal of the season, a volley from about 18 yards away. Also scoring Richard Dore, Andres Gordon and Antonio Jacobo.
