Tuesday night our Women’s Soccer team took on Vista Del Lago for a highly anticipated league matchup between two competitive teams. The Eagles started the first half strong with offensive drives putting the Falcons on their heels. The Eagles struck fast and hard taking the lead 0-1. However, this was short lived as Ainsley Carroll (’20) drove the ball home tying the game up at 1-1. The Falcons found their rhythm and worked like
a well-oiled machine giving Emma Thompson (’18) a clean shot past the goalie to take the lead over Vista 2-1. Both teams fought tooth and nail for possession all the way into the half. The second half was a spectacular show of the Falcons skills on both offense and defense. Maci Bakarich (’19) broke through Vista’s defenses with ease putting the goalie to work. Emma Brueckner(’18) brought it up the left and Dior Dupavillon (’19) on the right to keep the Eagles guessing. Hailey Green (’18), Julia Atlee (’18), Lauren Towne (’20), and Annemarie Barbour (’19) shut down any chance the Eagles had at a comeback. The Falcons played smart and brought home the third league win in a row to stay undefeated in league.
When asked about the Game Defender Barbour said, “I think we worked really well together and were able to get our tempo down. Pre-season was a learning experience and now that we are in season we understand each other a lot more.” Barbour noted “Our energy was really high and that was important. For other games we would start strong in the first half and level in, but this time we kept up our drive.” So what did this win against Vista mean for our Lady Falcons? Green was stoked, “It’s super big time! They are one of the top competitors in the league. I’m very proud of the girls.” Barbour added “And it really helps because each win is going towards points and each point is really important for playoffs in the long run.” Come see these Falcons in person as they travel to Mira Loma to take on the Matadors Thursday night.
