By Owen Hunt & Colin McCarley
On Saturday our Men’s Rugby team took on Gridley at Christian Brothers High School in the Falcons home opener. The Falcons started the game with a strong offense driving the ball into the try-zone over and over. The game was full of amazing plays and heavy hits. Aidan O’Malley (‘19) and Nick Piper (‘19) made outstanding runs down the field put the Falcons in great position to score. Flankers Travis Vaughn (‘18) and Jeremy Rhodes (‘18) smacked Gridley every chance they got, Rhodes, however, hit too hard too fast and sprained his AC joint (shoulder) — he will be out for the foreseeable future. CB won with a commanding score 54-0, with tries from Jack O’Hearn (‘18), Colin McCarley (‘18), Anthony Richardson (‘20), Connor Laffan (‘18), and two tries each from Jeremy Fernandez (‘18) and Mitchell Berger (’18). McCarley made seven out of seven conversions. Men of the match went to Owen Clark (‘19) and Richardson for their stellar performances. Show rugby some love and support them Saturday February 17th at Christian Brothers for an exciting game against Center Parkway.
