The fate of the Christian Brothers Men’s Varsity Soccer team playoff chances hang in the balance. After the team’s unfortunate 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Rio Americano Raiders last Thursday, the Falcons spot on the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs has been in jeopardy ever since. After a 4-0 victory over the Mira Loma Matadors two weeks ago, the boys were convinced they had clinched their playoff chances, but an unexpected turn of events has upturned their chances. The Rio Americano Raiders have had to forfeit multiple matches which they played, due to a number of Raider players being ineligible to play. Due to this, the Rio record has been changed massively, and now they must play a rematch against CAL leader Vista Del Lago to determine the placement of multiple teams in the playoffs. If Vista either ties or beats Rio in their match Tuesday February 12th, our Falcons will be in the playoffs. If the Raiders take the win, our boys are out of luck and done with their season. The match should go in the favor of the Falcons, seeing as Vista tops the CAL leaderboard with a record of 7-1-1. Let us hope that the match puts our boys in the section playoffs so that they may continue their season.
