Winter Sports Playoff Preview

Women’s Basketball

The women’s basketball team grabbed the number one seed in the Sac Joaquin Division III playoffs after finishing 19-7 and 10-0 in league. The girls claimed another CAL championship after defeating every league opponent by more than 20 points. The Lady Falcons are defending section champions and will begin their title defense Tuesday night against the 16th seeded American Canyon Wolves. The Wolves are 6-19 on the year and were fortunate to sneak into the playoffs. You can tune in to tonight’s game on NFHS network.

Men’s Basketball

Christian Brothers High School is starting its playoff run on Wednesday as they will travel down to American Canyon to take on the 8th seed Wolves. If the Falcons win on Wednesday they will take on the #1 seed Central Catholic. Central Catholic is the 6th ranked team in the whole section. For the Falcons to reach their goal of a section championship game, they will have to win three tough road games to get there. The Falcons will likely be underdogs in every game from here on out, but as the Philadelphia Eagles showed, underdogs can still win it all. Stay tuned for updates on the Falcons postseason run.

Women’s Soccer

The seventh-seeded women’s soccer team will take on the Manteca Buffaloes in the first round of the CIF Division III Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs. The Falcons are coming into playoffs with a 9-6-4 record and 39 goals total on the year. “We need to make sure to stay focused at practice and make sure to have a big turn out but with our work ethic and passion,” Emma Brueckner (’18) stated. “I have no doubt that we will do great in playoffs.”  Maci Bakarich (’19) leads the team with 6 goals, and Lauren Towne (’20) has 35 saves for the season. The Buffaloes have a 18-5-2 record and are seeded 10th.  Come support our Lady Falcons at Sac City at Tuesday night at 7 PM!

Men’s Soccer

After their narrow entrance into the CIF Division III Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs following the Vista Del Lago victory over Rio Americano due to a strange roster occurrence, the CB Men’s Varsity Soccer boys are fired up to enter their postseason. Though the team may have had a fairly turbulent season overall, the Falcons, inspired by the leadership of Head Coach Jacob Hunley ’96, seek to go as far as they possibly can in the playoffs. The boys will be facing off against the Antelope Titans, the third seed in the bracket compared to CB’s 14th seed. The Titans are a strong, powerful team, hosting a winning record of 13-5-1, besting many teams including El Camino and Del Campo. Antelope has proved itself to be one of the best teams in the section, and the Titans will surely be trouble for our boys. However, despite the rigor of the match ahead, the Falcons have not given up. They will be giving their all on the pitch, and without a doubt they will battle hard against the Titans. Our boys will be facing off against Antelope Tuesday night at the Titans’ home pitch. The best of luck to the Falcons in their postseason journey.
