On Saturday night, the women’s basketball team had a shot at school history — no Christian Brothers women’s basketball had ever advanced into the semifinals of the NorCal tournament. But Monet Brown (’18) provided clutch baskets and free throws down the stretch of a defensive struggle and the Falcons prevailed against Dublin 43-38. Both teams played suffocating defense, forcing missed shots left and right, and Bria Shine (‘20) had a big impact on the glass. The Dublin defense focused on Falcons star Breezy Juniel (‘19), collapsing their defense on her any time she got in the paint. Down the stretch, free throws made all the difference in the game. Dublin missed two front ends of one and ones in the waning minutes. In the final minute, CB iced the game with a combination of free throws and offensive rebounding, never allowing the Gaels to touch the ball with the score within one possession. The Clovis Cougars are next up for the Falcons, as they will head to the Ron Limeberger Gymnasium on Tuesday for the CIF D-III NorCal semifinals. There will be free pizza available to all students that are in attendance on Tuesday at 7 PM, but you must be there at least 15 minutes prior to tip off for the free food. Go and support our Lady Falcons as they attempt to reach the NorCal championship game!
