Falcons Come Back From 13 Point Deficit At Half To Defeat Rio 27-19

On Friday, the Christian Brothers Falcons took on the Rio Americano Raiders at Del Campo. The Falcons had a slow start, giving up 13 unanswered points in the first half. Tyler Green ’19 had an amazing 72 yard run to finally put the Falcons on the board with 6:55 left in the third. The Raiders followed the Falcons with another touchdown bringing the score to 19-7, with 2:43 left in the third quarter. Just when the game looked hopeless and out of reach, the Falcons shifted momentum with a game changing interception by senior Freddie Fiske ’19 at the start of the fourth quarter. With 6:39 left in the game, Jacob Stewart ’21 threw a touchdown pass to Bryan Garrett ’20 plus a PAT made the score 19-14. With 5:23 left in the fourth, the Falcon defense forced pressure on Rio and forced another interception, this time by Falcon, Tyler Green. Green capped off the interception by catching a touchdown pass, giving the Falcons their first lead of the game, 20-19.  The Falcons defense stepped up and forced Rio to punt. Only three minutes later, senior Chase Gallup ’19 rushed the final points of the game into the end zone making the score 27-19. Both offense and defense looked scattered early, but found their composure and scored an astounding 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, bringing their record to 3-3.  The Falcons have a bye this week and their next game is in two weeks against El Camino at 7:30.
