Falcons Fall To Sac High In The Final Game of League Play

By Elise Ledesma & Haley Strack

On Saturday, the Christian Brothers Falcons took on the Sac High Dragons in a competition for a playoff seed.  The Falcons came out strong as they took advantage of a Dragon fumble on the first offensive play of the game. Jacob Stewart ’21 connected an 18 yard TD pass to Angelo Butler ’20, making the Falcons first on the board. Immediately following, the Dragons fumbled, once again, giving Tyler Green ’19, the opportunity to score on a 2 TD wildcat to make the score 13-0. Just as the Dragons looked to score their first points of the game, Jonathan Pearson snuffed out the attempted fake punt on 4th  down and 2. Just before the end of the first quarter, Green made a spectacular diving catch in the end zone off of a 14 yard touchdown strike from Stewart to put the Falcons ahead by 20. With seven minutes and 28 seconds left in the second quarter, the Dragons finally got on the board with a 25 yard touchdown pass and quickly followed it by a 25 yard field goal, making the score 20-10.

The Dragons came out of halftime looking for redemption on a long drive on their first possession of the second half, leading them to a 3 yard TD and closed the Falcon’s lead to just 3 points. On only the third play of the 4th quarter, the Dragons scored once again to put them up by three. However, an impressive block of the extra point by Tyler Green kept the final score at 23-20. The Falcons look to begin their playoff season this Friday at Yuba City.
