On tuesday night, the Christian Brothers Women’s soccer team had their fourth league game at Sacramento City College against the El Camino Eagles. Less than five minutes after the first whistle was blown, the Falcons got on the scoreboard. Forward Dior Dupavillion ‘19 quickly attacked the Eagles half of the field while crossing the ball into the box to Kat Maebori ‘20 who finished it into the back of the net.
Only a few minutes later, El Camino quickly countered and scored to tie the game at 1-1. The first half was very aggressive, leading to a yellow card being issued to both teams. Towards the end of the first half, a great passing sequence between the Lady Falcons lead to a long cross into the box and an authoritative one touch finish by Lexi Rakela ‘21.
In the second half, both teams had open opportunities to score, but a strong Falcon defense and critical big time saves made by freshman goalkeeper Lily Smith ‘22 kept the second half scoreless leading to a big victory for the Falcons. Junior goalkeeper Lauren Towne ‘20 who was taken out of the game early due to injury proudly said, “Smith made some huge saves for us in that second half. I’m really proud of her and super thankful that she could step up and cover for me when I got hurt.” The final score of the match was 2-1 with the Falcons coming out on top.
