Men’s Basketball Competes in MLK Showcase

On Monday, the CB Men’s Basketball team took on the Mission High School Bears during the MLK NorCal Sports TV Showcase at American Canyon High School. Both teams started slow offensively due to great defense from both teams. A put back for two by Ryan Toschi ’20 started the Falcons scoring streak. A last second three by the Bears tied up the game 9-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Bears pulled ahead in the second quarter, scoring 21 points to put them ahead 30-15.

In the second half, the Falcons pushed hard on defense but were not able to score more than Mission High in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter however, the Falcons were able to score 13 points while the Bears scored 6. Outstanding assists by Luke Jones ’20 and a clean dunk by Toschi led the offense in the fourth quarter. The Falcons were not able to pull ahead, losing 52-41. However, Toschi’s  great offensive and defensive performance was recognized as he took received player of the game honors for the Falcons.

We caught up with Jones to see how he feels about this game and others in the future: “I think this past game was our best defensive effort of the year,” he said. “We just need to go out and talk more on the court, and find a good balance for the games ahead.”

The next game for the CB men’s basketball team is Wednesday night at Christian Brothers against the Del Campo Cougars in a Capital Athletic League game.
