Rugby Falls To Penn Green But Has Hope For A Great Season

By Calvin Fiske

Last Saturday, the Christian Brothers Falcons men’s rugby team traveled to Woodside High School to take on Penn Green. Although the boys played an impressive second half, they still lost 39-10 with tries scored by Michael Regino ‘20 and Owen Clark ‘19. Clark was awarded man of the match for the backs and Ramu Lotiva ‘21 was man of the match for the forwards.

After this tough loss, the Falcons know what they need to improve on and hope to pull out more wins as the season progresses. The team hopes to put these improvements into action in their next game against Sac Pal on Saturday at home. Make sure to show up to support the Rugby team at 10:30 on Saturday February 16.

When asked about what he expects from this season, coach Bob Latrell had this to say, “Inspirational. It will be a building year.” He also stressed the importance of building the JV squad in order to continue the rugby program in future years. Latrell encourages anyone interested in playing rugby to come out and says it’s not too late to join the squad.
