Men's Head Varsity Basketball Coach

In five seasons as the head men’s basketball coach at Christian Brothers, Brian Chavez has guided the program to its most success on the Sac-Joaquin Section -Div. III level. That included a 2014-15 season in which the team finished with a 22-7 record (10-0 Capital Athletic League) while capturing the league title and being seeded as the number one seed for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs.

A graduate of Sacramento State and a native of Alameda, CA, Chavez’s basketball résumé includes a 17-year career as a basketball coach at the junior college and high school levels. Prior to CB, Chavez spent 3 years as the head varsity men’s coach at Galt High School. Prior to his tenure at Galt High School, Chavez spent six years (2002-08) at Sacramento City College where he was the Associate Head Coach for three seasons (2005-08) and an Assistant Coach from 2002-05 for Coach Andrew Jones. While at City College, Coach Chavez was responsible for player development, defensive strategy, recruiting and strength & conditioning.
