Joshua Keeney joined the CB faculty in 2024.

Joseph Wotawa, M.Div.

Mr. Joseph Wotawa join the Christian Brothers High School faculty in 2024. He holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Louis University in English, philosophy, and sociology and a Master of Divinity from Santa Clara University.

Paul Sunderman

Mr. Paul Sunderman joined the CB faculty in 2023 as a Religious Studies teacher. Prior to joining the CB faculty, Mr. Sunderman spent 22 years teaching in Catholic parochial schools at the junior high level. For the last 11 years, he served as the junior high religion and history teacher at Sacred Heart Parish School in Sacramento. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a joint master’s degree in History/Humanities and Religious Studies from California State University, Sacramento. His academic focus was the early history of Christianity and the development of Christian Theology and he also loves music, world religions, and linguistics.. Mr. Sunderman is the Lasallian Youth Club Moderator.

Cynthia Maldonado

Ms. Cindy Maldonado joined the CB faculty as a religious studies teacher in 2023. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Marquette University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Governors State University. Ms. Maldonado’s husband Luis graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1982. Her son, Max ’26, and daughter, Maya ’27, are also proud members of our Falcon family.

James Wykes, Ph.D.

Dr. James Wykes joined the Christian Brothers faculty in 2021. He holds B.A.s in both Theology and English, an M.A. in Theology, and a Ph.D. in Theology with an emphasis in Judaism and Christianity in Antiquity from Marquette University. He has experience in the classroom as a graduate assistant and worked for Sylvan Learning Center for four years. Dr. Wykes is the Lasallian Youth Moderator.

Seth Alexander, Ph.D.

Dr. Seth Alexander joined the Christian Brothers High School faculty in 2021 as a religious studies teacher. He holds a bachelor’s degree in classical studies, master’s degree in religious studies, and a Ph.D. in theology, all from Loyola University New Orleans.

Christopher Symkowick-Rose

Mr. Chris Symkowick-Rose joined the Christian Brothers High School faculty in 2005. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English & theology with a secondary education credential from Creighton University and a master’s degree in theology from the Iliff School of Theology.

Ben Symkowick

Ben Symkowick joined the Christian Brothers High School faculty in 2014. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Santa Clara University. He earned his single subject teaching credential in social science from California State University, San Francisco. Currently, Mr. Symkowick teaches Religious Studies I/II and Religious Studies III/IV. Mr. Symkowick is also a member of the freshmen football coaching staff.

Paul Havey ’81

Mr. Paul Havey ’81 joined the Christian Brothers High School faculty in 1996. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from CSU Sacramento and single subject teaching credential and master’s in pastoral ministries.

Thomas Guro ’03

Mr. Thomas Guro ’03 joined the Christian Brothers High School faculty in 2012. He holds a bachelor’s degree in religion and philosophy from Christian Brothers University and master’s degree in theology from University of St. Thomas. Currently, Mr. Guro teaches Freshman Religion and Sacraments/Morality.  In addition to teaching, Mr. Guro is a student council moderator.
