Patricia Portillo, Ph.D.

Dr. Patricia Portillo, Ph.D., joined the CB faculty as a Spanish teacher in 2023. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, a teaching credential from California State University, Fullerton; Master’s in Spanish from University of California, Riverside; and Ph.D. from Temple University, Philadelphia. She is originally from El Salvador and has a strong commitment to supporting all students in reaching their potential. She hopes to one day travel internationally with students and believes that traveling and seeing how other people see the world is one of the best things we can do to understand our own spaces.

Jessica Fitzgerald

Jessical Fitzgerald joined the CB faculty in 2022 teaching American Sign Language as a member of the World Languages Department.

Sister Maria Aguilar, SJS

Sr. Maria Aguilar, SJS, joined the Christian Brothers High School faculty in 2022. She holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, a BCLAD California teaching credential, and a master’s degree in education – all from San Diego State University. She also earned a master’s degree in inclusive education from Loyola Marymount University. Sr. Maria Aguilar belongs to the Sister Servants of the Blessed Sacrament and has more than 20 years of experience in Catholic education.

Kathleen Saumure-Jones

Ms. Kathleen Saumure-Jones joined CB’s World Languages Department in 2022 as a French teacher. She holds a bachelor’s degree in French and minor in theatre arts from California State University, Chico.

Dawn Jackson

Dawn Jackson joined the World Languages Department in 2022 as an instructor of American Sign Language.

Cristina Sasso

Ms. Cristina Sasso joined the Christian Brothers faculty in 2021 as a world languages teacher and teaches French. Ms. Sasso holds a degree in foreign languages and literatures from University of G. D’Annunzio – Italy and a master’s degree in education from a university in Italy. She is the moderator of the French Club.

 

Tomas Capogreco ’86

Mr. Tomas Capogreco ’86 joined the Christian Brothers High School faculty in 1994. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from CSU Sacramento and a teaching credential from Chapman University. He is a graduate of the the LaSallian Leadership Insitiute at St. Mary’s College. Currently, Mr. Capogreco serves as the World Languages Department Chair and is the moderator of the Classic Rock Club.
