Kelly Matthews English joined the faculty in 2023 as an English teacher. Ms. Matthews English holds a BA in English and women’s studies from Boston College, an MFA in Poetry from Brooklyn College, and a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Learning Differences and Neurodiversity with a Specialization in Executive Function from Landmark College. Ms. Matthews English has completed training in structured literacy through IMSE and is currently pursuing her IMSE Interventionist Certification. She has taught in a variety of settings over her career including as a full-time instructor in the English Department at the City University of New York, teaching ELA in New Orleans public schools, and teaching literacy for a non-profit serving court-involved youth in New Orleans. She is committed to reducing barriers to learning for students with language-based or other learning differences, and she is grateful and delighted to teach structured literacy at Christian Brothers.
