Applications open for Summer 2027 Service Trip! Ms. Hanshew will be leading a trip next summer from July 16-25 to Panama with Courts for Kids, a non-profit organization that partners with communities throughout the world to bring sports courts to communities where access to sports is limited. Students who attend this trip will participate in meaningful service with the community, and experience a full cultural immersion as we eat local food and stay in the heart of the community. Upon completion of the project, there will also be some time reserved for sightseeing. Would your student like to host a shadow day visitor? It’s that time of year again! If your student would like to host a Shadow Day guest, please have them fill out the Shadow Host Form and bring a signed copy of the Host Agreement to the Admissions Office in Bertram Hall to be considered to host an 8th grader on Shadow Day. Seniors

Class of 2027 Yearbook Deadlines — Due Friday, December 4: Seniors have three yearbook items due. Please don’t wait until the last minute!

Senior Portraits: Call or text Bill Smith Photography at 916-749-1026 (press 1 if calling), or book your appointment online. Don’t be left out of the yearbook!

Tribute Ads: Celebrate your senior with a tribute ad — full page ($350), half page ($225), or quarter page ($160). Consider teaming up with a group of friends for a shared tribute! Create your ad at Yearbook Forever.

Senior Quotes: Quotes appear under senior portraits and are limited to 120 characters. Keep it classy, and submit your quote here early.

Seniors who have November 1^st deadlines for college applications MUST turn in all counselor and teacher recommendation requests by Thursday, October 15^th.

Senior families: Please encourage your students to regularly check the Schoology group: College Updates for the Class of 2027. There are scholarship applications, deadlines, reminders, college fair information, college rep visit updates, and more! This is what the College Counselors use most to keep your seniors updated!

Application workshops will be held each Thursday through the fall semester at 7:45 a.m. and after school/Falcon Flex in Room 103. College Counselors will be available to answer questions, review essays, and assist with completing all application types.

Kairos: Registration for the January Kairos (January 26-29, 2027) is full. Sign up for the last Kairos for the Class of 2027, February Kairos (February 23-26) If you plan to attend, please have your parent/guardian complete the registration form here to secure your spot.

Juniors

The Junior Retreat is the first overnight retreat experience hosted by the Lasallian Student Life Office (LSLO) and led by our Senior Retreat Leadership Team (SRLT). This retreat emphasizes the student’s personal vocation in life and their gifts. This retreat is a reflection on their life journey thus far as a student at Christian Brothers High School. There are four retreats scheduled in your junior year!

For a Junior to be eligible as an applicant for the Senior Retreat Leadership Team in their final year at CB, they must fully participate in a Junior Retreat. All retreats are full! To be placed on a wait list email Dr. Jaldon (mjaldon@cbhs-sacramento.org)

Sophomores

Peru 2028: An Adventure with Purpose! CB is going back to Peru in Summer 2028, and your student is invited! Take advantage of a $500 early-enrollment discount! After a wonderful trip to Peru with seven CB students last summer, Mrs. Michel and Mr. Hogan are excited to lead another group on a service and Spanish immersion experience. Students will practice Spanish, work alongside local communities on meaningful service projects, experience Peruvian culture and cuisine, and visit spectacular Machu Picchu. The Parent /Guardian Information Meeting is on Thursday, November 5 at 6 p.m. in room 705. Learn about the trip, service projects, safety, costs, and the $500 early-enrollment discount. Student Volunteer Opportunities and Lasallian Student Life

Liturgies | Wednesday, November 4 at 8 a.m. and Thursday, October 5 at 2 p.m. with Juniors on their way to Junior Retreat. Mass is celebrated in the chapel. Parents and family members of CB are always welcome to join!

On Monday, November 2: All are welcome to a brief student-led Prayer Service to kick off this Month of Remembrance. The Prayer Service is hosted by God Squad and will be at 8 a.m. It’s important to note that you do not need to practice a certain faith tradition to participate in these activities. All are welcome and invited to join us in this meaningful remembrance.

Chapel Mass | Thursday, November 12 at 2 p.m.: Looking to pause and recharge? Everyone is invited to join! Shoutout to all Holy Spirit School grads at CB. We’d love to see you there in full force! Your very own Father Bong Rojas is visiting campus to celebrate this Mass. Make sure to stop by the chapel, take a moment to pray, and give Father Mark a warm welcome.

November is around the corner. In Catholic culture, November is the month we remember our loved ones who have died. Names will be written in Books of Remembrance, Masses will be offered for them, and many will visit the cemetery. When we remember our loved ones, their memories live on, their stories are shared, and their values are passed down. A common prayer in the funeral liturgy helps us understand that in death, “life has changed, not ended.”

As a community of faith-filled people, we celebrate and accompany each other who have entrusted their loved ones into God’s loving and merciful arms. I invite everyone on campus to write the names of our loved ones and friends who have died in the Book of Remembrance. They will be remembered at all our weekly chapel Masses. There are two ways you can participate: Complete this link here and submit the name of your deceased loved ones. Their names will be placed in the Book of Remembrance in our chapel. They will be remembered at all the Masses in the chapel during the month of November.

November Canned Food Drive Starts Now: November is CB’s annual canned food drive! All who are able are encouraged to donate canned goods to support our Oak Park neighbors – all cans will be donated to Williams Memorial Church for their Thanksgiving distribution. Last year CB collected 900 cans – the goal is 1,000 this year. All cans gratefully accepted in the LSLO or outside the Main Office at the front of campus. Thank you for your generosity during a time when help is so needed!

Family Donation Day | Friday, December 4, 2026, 7:45 AM: The countdown to the CB Gala & Auction is on, and we’re getting a head start on the fun! Family Auction Donation Day is a chance for our CB community to come together and help build an amazing collection of unique items, experiences, and one-of-a-kind treasures for this year’s Auction. Every donation helps make the Auction special and supports the magic of our CB community! Mark your calendars for Friday, December 4th! Families can drop off donations during morning student drop-off from 7:45 – 8:30 AM. Look for our CB Parent Volunteers in front of the Main Office or at the side drop-off gate near the cafeteria. Start thinking about what you might donate! We welcome quality wines, new home goods, themed gift baskets, experiences, vacation home rentals, jewelry, and gift cards. Need inspiration? Any student wishing to try out for a Winter Sport on Monday, November 2^nd must have an updated physical on Final Forms and all the FinalForms parent and student Forms signed to participate. To add your student to a tryout group, use the sport button on your individual Final Forms account.
