Important Announcements

Parents and Guardians: Thank you for your support of the updated phone policy and our Phone Free School Day. This adjustment has made a noticeable change with student engagement in class and with one another throughout the school day.  Many students are even reporting that they are enjoying the break from their phones! 37th ANNUAL CB EXTRAVAGANZA is almost here! On Saturday, September 12th Sacramento’s biggest night is back and better than ever! Gala & Auction Planning Meeting: Wednesday, September 9th, 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM: You’re invited to meet our Planning Committee Co-chairs, Samantha Ansted and Judy Bernacchi, at the first Gala & Auction Planning Meeting of the year. Whether you’re curious to learn more, can offer occasional help, or are ready to take a leadership role, we welcome you! No prior auction experience is needed. Clothes Closet: Open on Thursday, September 10 during all school lunch. The Clothes Closet has been a huge success for students seeking dress-code apparel. All items are gently used and at no cost. Donations of clothing items in dress code are always welcome and can be dropped off in the Front Office during business hours. Parking Permits

Parking Permits are required to park anywhere on campus, including in the parking areas outside the gates. Permits are only issued to students with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Because of limited space, parking permits are limited to one per household. Parking Permits are available to purchase online. Students can go to the front office to pick up their permit, with proof of purchase, on or after August 8. If students are caught parking on campus without a Parking Permit, they will be issued a parking violation. For questions regarding parking permits, contact Kelly Harrington at 916-733-3625. 

Seniors

Kairos: The highlight of your senior year is here! Register for Kairos today. Watch the Kairos commercial here. Please do not miss this valuable opportunity! If there is a financial challenge, please reach out to Dr. Jaldon to discuss options.  Before you sign up, remember:

Point 1: In a single semester, students may attend no more than two (2) of the following events:

Kairos Retreat * Grade-Level Retreats * VENAVER Immersion Program * Sophomore/Junior/Senior Scholars Trip * Student Television Network (STN) Convention

Point 2: Should a student need to transfer their registration to a future retreat date, a formal request must be submitted via email to mjaldon@cbhs-sacramento.org

Please note the following policies:

Transfer Requests: Requests must be received at least fourteen (14) days prior to the start date of the registered retreat.

Processing Fee: All approved transfers are subject to a $35.00 administrative processing fee.

Refund Policy: No refunds will be issued within two weeks of the retreat start date. This includes illnesses, sport’s games, or any other life event that occurs.

SAT school day exam is Monday, October 12th at 8 a.m.  Registration and payment must be completed through this link: https://secure.acceptiva.com/?cst=9okETN

Application workshops will be held each Thursday through the fall semester (beginning 8/27) at 7:45 a.m. and after school/Falcon Flex in Room 103. College Counselors will be available to answer questions, review essays, and assist with completing all application types.

Seniors should check the College updates for the Class of 2027 weekly for scholarship opportunities and important information about college admissions.

CB College Counselors are offering a field trip to take students to the HBCU (Historical Black Colleges and Universities) College Fair on Wednesday, September 9th.  Some schools will be offering on site admissions and scholarships. To attend students need to pick up a field trip permission slip as soon as possible in Counseling.

Class of 2027 Yearbook Deadlines — Due Friday, December 4

Seniors have three yearbook items due by Friday, December 4. Please don’t wait until the last minute!

Senior Portraits

SENIORS and Parents: All yearbook deadlines occur on the same day: December 4, 2026.  Your senior quote must be submitted, your senior portrait should be taken with Bill Smith, and any tributes should be paid for and submitted. See the attached flyer for each QR code to scan and access these 3 websites. Pricing for adds is also listed. Juniors

The Junior Retreat is the first overnight retreat experience hosted by the Lasallian Student Life Office (LSLO) and led by our Senior Retreat Leadership Team (SRLT). This retreat emphasizes the student’s personal vocation in life and their gifts. This retreat is a reflection on their life journey thus far as a student at Christian Brothers High School. There are four retreats scheduled in your junior year! 

For a Junior to be eligible as an applicant for the Senior Retreat Leadership Team in their final year at CB, they must fully participate in a Junior Retreat. All retreats are full! To be placed on a wait list email Dr. Jaldon (mjaldon@cbhs-sacramento.org)

The Class of 2029 has a beautiful opportunity as they all participate in the Sophomore Retreat. This is a MANDATORY event for all sophomores. The retreat is offered according to their religion class. All details can be found on the permission slip. Students who have Mrs. Maldonado or Mr. Wotawa will attend on Tuesday, September 15. Students who have Mr. Keeney or Dr. Wykes will attend on Wednesday, September 16.  The retreat will be at the Sacramento Newman Center, 5900 Newman Court, Sacramento.  

Students are expected to arrive at 8:40 am. The pickup is at 1:30 pm. Students bring their lunch; we will provide snacks. Students come in their Blue Spirit Shirt with dress code bottoms. If they need a Spirit Shirt, come to Room 106 before September 15. All teachers are aware that half the class will be gone on Tuesday and the other half on Wednesday, and they will adjust classwork so everyone can participate in the retreat.   Please complete the electronic permission slip here.

The Social Action Leadership Team (S.A.L.T.) is the group on campus responsible for planning and executing service events, donation drives, and leading service efforts at CB. We are looking for students with an interest in social justice and community service to join this club. All students interested in participating on the Social Action Leadership Team this year should click here to apply for S.A.L.T.

Freshman

Mandatory Frosh Parent Counseling and Athletics Info Night | Thursday, September 10th at 6 p.m. in the Theater.  Learn about resources available to your students at Christian Brothers High School, how they can be successful academically, socially, and into college, and gain insight on playing sports at CB.

Student Volunteer Opportunities and Lasallian Student Life

Liturgies | Wednesday, September 2 at 8 a.m. & Thursday, September 3 at 2 p.m.: Mass is celebrated in the chapel. Parents and family members of CB are always welcome to join!

Looking to pause and recharge? Everyone is invited to join us for Chapel Mass on Thursday, September 3 at 2:00 p.m. Shoutout to all St. Elizabeth Ann Seton grads at CB. We’d love to see you there in full force! Your very own Father Michael Vaughan is visiting campus to celebrate this Mass. Make sure to stop by the chapel, take a moment to pray, and give Father Vaughan a warm welcome.

September Community Liturgy| Thursday, September 10: All are welcome at 11:30 a.m. The Vocation Director of the Diocese, Father Mauricio, will be celebrant and preacher. We will be joined by students from Saint Francis, Cristo Rey, and Saint Patrick-Saint Vincent High School. We welcome them to our campus!

Chapel Mass | Thursday, September 24 at 2 p.m.: Looking to pause and recharge? Everyone is invited to join us. Shoutout to all Sacred Heart School grads at CB. S.A.L.T. Applications Due September 4! PB&J for Unhoused Students – Class Competition to Submit the Most! S.A.L.T.’s annual PB&J drive to support hungry students in Oak Park is going until September 11, congratulations to the Freshman class who is currently in the lead! Students and families are invited to donate peanut butter and jelly to be distributed to unhoused students and their families from Oak Ridge Elementary. Donations can be dropped off in the LSLO. Brands that are in plastic jars and do not require refrigeration are preferred, and alternative butters such as almond or sunflower are welcome alternatives for those with nut allergies. Students will see different bins for each class – put your donations in your class’s year, and as long as at least 150 total jars of PB&J are donated, the class with the most donations at the end of the drive will win free popcorn during Falcon Flex in September. Check in with Ms. Hanshew in the LSLO with any questions.

Applications for Los Angeles VENAVER Due September 18: All juniors and seniors in good academic standing are invited to apply to attend a VENAVER immersion trip. These weeklong trips are opportunities to participate in faith-based experiences exploring community, service learning, social justice, and simple community living. Applications for the Los Angeles VENAVER are open through September 18. Details on all VENAVER trips can be found here.

Back-to-School Night | Wednesday, August 26, at 5:30 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to meet their students’ teachers and learn more about curriculum content and teachers’ instructional goals, classroom policies and procedures, assessment methods, etc. We look forward to seeing you there!

Sport Passes are now on sale for the 2026-2027 season. You may purchase a sport pass through the CB Website under the Ticket Hub tab at the top of the website.

Club Corner

Club Applications are Due September 4: All new and returning clubs are required to complete a club application to be considered for club status during the 26-27 school year. Students should click here to submit an application for a new club, or click here to submit an application for a returning club. Applications are due no later than Friday, September 4, and a mandatory club leaders meeting is scheduled after the rally on Thursday, September 17. Club Day will be during all school lunch on Thursday, September 24.

  • The Black Student Union will meet on September 3rd during Falcon Flex in the Bertram Hall Living Room. All are welcome to join!
