
Christian Brothers High School Theatre department will present the CB Theatre Showcase, a collection of songs, scenes, monologues and the one act play, Little Extremes, one night only on February 6th at 7 PM.
The program begins with songs from Musical Theatre performed by Makayla Alber ’28 and Paige Feely ’28. Music Director, Graham Sobelman, will accompany on the piano.
A selection of three monologues by Shakespeare will be performed by three students from the Acting and Honors Acting Focus class: Jonathan Tomeldan ’26, Avi Hammel ’26, and Prairie Rose Parsell ’28.
A scene from Bert V. Royal’s play, Dog Sees God, about the Peanuts comic strip characters as teenagers, will be performed by Daphne Long ’28 and Nate Dickey ’27.
A scene from Strangers on a Train by Craig Warner will follow, featuring Jonathan Tomeldan ’26 and Gabriel Chrisman ’28, in the thriller made famous by Alfred Hitchcock’s film version.
Finishing out the program is a one act play, Little Extremes, by Mark Jackson and directed by student Mirelia Saavedra ’26. The play explores how arguments surrounded by extreme circumstances can escalate into violence as well as holding a mirror up to America’s gun problem. The play’s serious subject is staged with a highly theatrical concept and a dark sense of humor.
